TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said on Twitter that Apple is unlikely to release an iPhone with an in-screen Touch ID scanner within the next two years.
Interestingly, in September 2021, Kuo predicted the release of at least one iPhone model with an under-display fingerprint scanner in the second half of 2023.
Kuo has now explained that she has abandoned that decision in favor of further developing Face ID. For example, with the release of iOS 15.4, iPhones have learned to recognize owners wearing masks and glasses.
Earlier, journalists Mark Gurman from Bloomberg and Joanna Stern from The Wall Street Journal repeatedly reported that Apple tested the under-screen Touch ID in some iPhone 13 prototypes, but the company abandoned this feature by release.
