US President Joe Biden arrived in the Polish city of Rzeszow, about 65 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, on Friday but was unable to meet immediately as planned with Polish President Andrzej Duda, whose airplane had to make an emergency landing. Biden initially met with US troops stationed in Poland instead of going with Duda to view the humanitarian operation for the millions of refugees who have fled the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
