The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State has had to arrest one of their own, as well as a woman from Meloding, Virginia, for allegedly conspiring to falsely accuse a man of rape and then demanding money from him to have the case against him closed. “A Meloding woman accused a male person of rape and reportedly worked along with a female police officer to demand R15 000 so that the rape case could be dropped,” stated SAPS Free State spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng.
