Lithuania is to raise defence expenditure considerably to an amount equivalent to 2.52% of gross domestic product following a vote in the Vilnius parliament on Thursday that came in response to the war in Ukraine. The budget had originally provided for an amount of €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion), or 2.05% of GDP to be spent on defence. On Thursday, parliament voted unanimously to spend an additional €300 million.
