Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt secured the men’s alpine skiing World Cup giant slalom title on Saturday after finishing joint second in a Kranjska Gora race won by Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen. In a women’s slalom in Sweden’s Åre, Austria’s Katharina Liensberger triumphed for just a third career World Cup victory having also won in the same race last year. Overall leader Mikaela Shiffrin skied too conservatively in the second run to end up ninth with big rival Petra Vlhova placing fourth to marginally narrow the gap.
