More than a dozen families lost practically everything they owned when a four-alarm blaze ravaged an apartment building on the Union City-Weehawken border Wednesday. North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue (NHRFR) members responded to 3801 Park Ave. in Union City at 11:44 a.m. and battled the fire for six and half hours before it was declared under control. All told, 88 firefighters participated in the operation, NHRFR spokesman Grant Ludmer said.
