Protesters took to the streets in Lima on Saturday to call for an end to gender-based violence in the Andean country ahead of International Women’s Day. Peruvian women gathered outside the justice palace in Lima, waving banners and shouting and chanting. The mobilisation aimed to raise awareness of the high levels of violence against women and impunity towards the aggressors in Peru. The march comes amidst increasing reports of femicides in the Andean nation. Last year, 141 femicides were reported in Peru.
