When Apple updated its MacBook Pro last year, these got the company’s bright Liquid Retina XDR screens, which can reach as high as 1600 nits maximum brightness or about 1000 nits for the entire screen. However, this has not been possible to use for the entire computer’s interface, but Apple runs this at around 500-600 nits by default. The developers behind the Vivid app want to change that, with the app users can increase the brightness of their laptops so it is constantly at 1000 nits. Not very good for battery life probably, but perfect if you really want the brightest screen has to offer, like if you sit outdoors on a sunny day.

The app costs $ 16, but it can be tested before you decide to buy it. However, the test version only makes half the screen brighter, so it is not possible to drive with it unfortunately. If Apple were to prevent the app from working properly in the future, the developers promise to try to fix it within three months, otherwise customers will be able to get their money back.
