On Monday, authorities in the Netherlands again fined Apple €5 million for not having an alternative payment method for a subscription in dating apps. The total amount of fines has increased to €50 million.
Today the company announced, which will allow you to pay for subscriptions outside of the App Store. Developers can indicate this right inside the program, but it must be distributed through the App Store. It must also be indicated without fail that Apple is not responsible for the safety of the payment data transmitted to the seller, since the transactions do not go through the Cupertinos.
Apple will insist that developers pay a 27% fee for a third-party payment method. An excerpt from the new rules:
Developers will be responsible for collecting and remitting any applicable taxes, such as Dutch Value Added Tax (VAT), on sales processed by a third party payment provider.
Developers exercising these rights will be required to provide Apple with a record of each sale of digital goods and content that has been made through the App Store. This report must be submitted monthly within 15 calendar days of the end of Apple’s fiscal month.
