By late Wednesday, 64 teams will still be in contention for the men’s national championship. The number of real contenders is a fraction of that—though, it must be said, more than last year, when Baylor and Gonzaga loomed over the field. In this more wide-open year, we could probably make a case for a dozen teams. But 10 is a rounder number, so let’s go with that.
