Finnish President Sauli Niinistö spoke for an hour with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the invasion of Ukraine and remarked upon the suffering of civilians, his office said in a statement. He told Putin that the worsening catastrophe is strongly influencing public opinion in the West and stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire, with the safe evacuation of civilians through humanitarian corridors.
