Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of central Berlin on Sunday to decry Russia’s war against Ukraine, in one of the largest demonstrations seen in Germany in years. Organizers estimated the turnout at a half million people, while police put the figure in the low six figures. Whatever the exact number, it was far larger than the 20,000 that had been anticipated.
