Russia has confirmed that it is still pumping high volumes of natural gas to Europe through its transit pipelines in Ukraine. According to the state-owned company Gazprom, 105.8 million cubic metres of gas were to be delivered to Europe on Monday, the news agency Interfax reported. There are fears in the West that Russia could turn off the continent’s gas supply in retaliation for unprecedented sanctions levied against the country following its invasion of Ukraine. Russia has stressed that it has always continued reliable gas deliveries even during crises in the past.
