Fanny Smith of Switzerland is set to be handed an Olympic bronze medal in ski cross after winning an appeal against her demotion from third at the Beijing Winter Games, the Swiss ski federation and governing FIS said Saturday. Smith was third across the line behind Sandra Naeslund of Sweden and Marielle Thompson of Canada but was sanctioned for contact with Germany’s Daniela Maier before the finish.
