Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki sees Russia’s decision to recognize the self-proclaimed People’s Republics in eastern Ukraine as a “rejection of dialogue” as well as being “a blatant violation of international law.” “It is an act of aggression against Ukraine that must be met with an unequivocal response and immediate sanctions,” Morawiecki tweeted on Monday night, adding: “It is the only language Putin understands.” Morawiecki also used his tweet to call for an emergency EU leaders’ summit.
