A woman rescued by firefighters from a house fire in West Orange early Sunday died of smoke inhalation at an area hospital hours later, officials said. A family pet also died in the fire while a man escaped the blaze on his own, a township spokesman said. The fire, which broke out in the basement of a home on Valley Way shortly before 4:30 a.m., took about two hours to bring under control.
