Niklas Edin got Olympic curling gold at last but he and his Swedish team-mates needed an extra end to wear down Bruce Mouat’s Britain 5-4 in the men’s final on Saturday. Mouat failed with his last stone as Sweden were placed better in the house. Sweden didn’t even need the hammer, the final stone, to clinch a first gold in the event. The British team led 1-0 in the opening end but Sweden countered immediately and went 3-1 up in the third thanks to a steal.
