Niklas Edin got Olympic curling gold at last but he and his Swedish team-mates needed an extra end to wear down Bruce Mouat’s Britain 5-4 in the men’s final on Sunday. Mouat failed with his last stone to place better than the best Swedish stone in the house. Sweden didn’t even need the hammer, the final stone, to clinch a first gold in the event. The British team led 1-0 in the opening end but Sweden countered immediately and went 3-1 up in the third thanks to a steal.
