Belgian Bart Swings won the men’s speed skating mass start at the Beijing Winter Olympics on Saturday, catching two Koreans on the line to go one better than 2018. The 31-year-old triumphed against the other 15 skaters over 16 laps for his first career Olympic gold having taken silver four years ago. Chung Jae Won was second with 2018 champion Lee Seung Hoon ending up with bronze. It was the first gold medal for Belgium at the Beijing Games. The women’s mass start final follows with five-times Olympic champion Claudia Pechstein of Germany in action just days before her 50th birthday.
