The cyclone that swept across Britain and Ireland before hitting continental Europe claimed at least three lives in Germany and caused storm surge flooding along the country’s North Sea coast, police reported on Saturday. Two deaths were directly attributed to the storm – named Zeynep in Germany – in the state of North Rhine Westphalia and a third in Lower Saxony. The cause of a third road death was not clear.
