Veronika Stepanova skied away from German rival Sofie Krehl to anchor the Russia team to gold in the Olympic women’s cross country skiing relay while there was no medal for superpower Norway. Yulia Stupak, Tour de Ski winner and skiathlon silver medallist Natalia Nepryaeva, Tatiana Sorina and Stepanova gave the Russians their first gold since 2006 in the 4×5-kilometres race, clocking 53 minutes 41.0 seconds.
