Veronika Stepanova skied away from German rival Sofie Krehl to anchor the Russia team to gold in the Olympic women’s cross country skiing relay while there was no medal for superpower Norway. Yulia Stupak, Tour de Ski winner and skiathlon silver medallist Natalia Nepryaeva, Tatiana Sorina and Stepanova gave the Russians their first gold since 2006 in the 4×5-kilometres race, clocking 53 minutes 41.0 seconds. They won 18.2 seconds ahead of the surprise Germans, and sprint gold medallist Jonna Sundling gave 2014 winners Sweden the bronze, beating Finland’s Krista Parmakoski in a dash to the line…
