The truck manufacturer Scania was sentenced in 2017 by the EU Commission to pay 880 euros, equivalent to around 9 billion kronor, in fines.
The reason was that the Commission considered that for 14 years the company, together with five other truck manufacturers, had entered into a cartel.
Volvo trucks paid over 670 million euros and also Daimler and Paccar chose to pay their share of the total fine of 2.93 billion euros.
Scania appealed the decision to the European Court of Justice, which in February this year chose to fully follow the Commission’s line. Now the company is also appealing that decision to the European Court of Justice.
“Scania continues to oppose the conclusions reached by the European Commission and subsequently confirmed by the European Court of Justice, and maintains that it has not reached any pan-European agreements with other manufacturers regarding pricing or coordinated any delayed introductions of new EU-compliant engines: s legal requirements for exhaust emissions “, the company writes in a press release.
