Some owners of new Apple monitors – Studio Display have experienced problems when trying to update the monitor to the latest firmware, as a result of which Apple Support asks to take the monitor to a service center for repair.
On the Apple support forum (one, 2) threads began to appear with complaints from Studio Display owners reporting that they were getting an error when trying to update the monitor: “Apple Studio Display firmware update could not be completed. Try again in an hour. If the problem persists, contact an authorized Apple service provider.” According to forum users, reconnecting the display to a different Mac and/or resetting the monitor does not resolve the issue.
Apple Support recommends taking your monitor to an authorized service center for repair. Apple Studio Display runs on iOS, and you can update the firmware through macOS System Preferences.
After complaining about the poor quality of the built-in webcam, Apple promised to fix this issue in a future update. Perhaps the same update will also fix the update issue experienced by Studio Display users.
