We even thought that the company took the path to simplify its devices – the flagship for the first time in history was cheaper than its predecessor. But this year everything fell into place and the Galaxy S22 is once again a premium product. But he still retained his charm of a convenient smartphone, which has something to admire. I’ve been with him for about a month now and I can tell you everything I think about him.

It’s true that the entry-level phone in Samsung’s new flagship lineup lacks the premium features of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the big screen of the Galaxy S22 Plus, but that doesn’t mean it’s any worse than its big brothers.

By choosing this model, you will get the same chipset as the more expensive variants of the Samsung S22. You will also have an excellent camera and a bright high-quality screen. And all this for a relatively low price, which does not exceed what is asked for not the top-end Chinese device.

Not too long ago, I praised the iPhone SE 3 for taking an alternative approach to the market, and many of you disagreed with me in the comments, but I’m sure I’m right. Samsung touts the feature AI Stereo Depth Map for shots in portrait mode, in which artificial intelligence better separates the subject from the background. In general, this works, and the separation occurs more naturally. Mistakes sometimes happen, but there is no small halo around a person, which is sometimes present in other models, especially Chinese ones.
The Galaxy S22’s cameras have clearly improved, especially when it comes to low-light shots and portrait mode. Samsung’s problem is that its competitors also do not stand still. But for us, this is only a plus, and we get a constant increase in quality. True, Samsung still needs to work with color reproduction. It was last year and it is still there. I’m not saying that the picture looks like a film negative, but it will not be superfluous to improve the color rendition.
Selfies are quite sane.
It would be remiss if I didn’t mention the ability to capture 8K video at 24fps and 4K video at 60fps. Not everyone needs it, but there is such a possibility. In addition, the auto crop function can detect and track up to 10 people, switching focus between them. I didn’t get as many volunteers to test the function, and it’s not useful for everyone, but at the presentation they talked about it very colorfully.
How fast is the Samsung Galaxy S22

Screen size isn’t the only thing that went down from the Galaxy S21 to the Galaxy S22. This year’s model also has a smaller battery – 3700 mAh vs 4000 mAh. Perhaps Samsung was hoping that a faster chipset and adaptive display would improve the battery life of the Galaxy S22. I didn’t notice much of a difference in usage time, although many of my colleagues complained about it. It all depends on the usage scenarios, but in any case, the more battery power, the better.

Unlike the Galaxy S22 Plus, the basic version did not get such a fast charge. The Plus can be wired charged at 45W, while the Galaxy S22 can only be charged at 25W. Therefore, a depleted Galaxy S22 can charge up to 60% in half an hour, while the S22 Plus is already 70% even though it has a larger battery capacity. But for faster charging, you will have to buy a more expensive power adapter, because there is no one in the kit.

Android 12 and OneUI 4.1
Galaxy S22 came out immediately with One UI 4.1 over Android 12. If you like previous versions of Samsung One UI, this version will suit you, especially since Samsung has added more customization and privacy features. You can see which apps are requesting permissions, and managing those permissions just got a little easier.
Some proprietary shell features are handy. But they can be turned off.
But the most interesting thing here is the extended support for Samsung software, starting with the Galaxy S22.
