And already in September we are waiting for a new lineup of iPhone 14 with pre-installed iOS 16 on board.
Changes to the iPhone 14 lineup
In 2022, a change in the current line is expected, most likely, we will no longer see the iPhone mini 5.4″. The reason is extremely low sales. For 2021 in China (and this is a key market for Apple), the iPhone 13 mini accounted for only 5% of all sales.
There will be 4 devices in the 2022 iPhone lineup:
- iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro with 6.1″ display.
- iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max with 6.7″ display.
iPhone 14 design
The base iPhone 14 will have a similar design to the previous generation.
The recess for the strapping of the Face ID sensors will remain, but the bezels around the display will decrease by about 20%.
The iPhone 14 Max with a 6.7″ screen will have a similar design, differing only in larger dimensions. The lightning interface will also remain.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will not have ProMotion technology, i.e. The screen refresh rate will remain at 60Hz. Let me remind you in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max up to 120 Hz.
Drawings of the iPhone 14 Pro are available online. The model will be slightly taller and thicker than its predecessor.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max will be slightly thinner and shorter. But most won’t notice.

iPhone 14 performance
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max use a modified A15 chip. Another graphics core can be added to it. This technology has been used in the iPad Pro for more than a year.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max use the new Apple Silicon chip, made using the 4nm process technology.
RAM in the entire line of iPhone 14 will be 6 GB. The Pro line will have faster LPDDR5 memory (versus LPDDR 4X in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max).
The chip will receive a Snapdragon X65 modem (released in early 2021). It is the world’s first modem and antenna system that can deliver theoretical data rates up to 10 Gbps.
The energy-efficient modem provides improved coverage for both mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands, as well as support for all mmWave frequencies.
There will be a Wi-Fi 6e module that operates at a frequency of 6 GHz and provides higher throughput.
Autonomy iPhone 14
There is no information on the battery yet, but they say that autonomy will increase through the use of a more energy-efficient modem.
iPhone 14 camera
They will improve the front camera on all models in the line. The 12MP sensor will get a spotlight feature like the recently introduced iPad Air 5.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are expected to have a new 48 MP matrix with a 25-30% larger sensor.

New iPhone 14 feature
