IT House news on April 9, learned from Chengdu High-tech Disaster Reduction Research Institute, on April 6,The country’s first provincial key laboratory focusing on multi-hazard early warning —— The Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Earthquake Early Warning and Multi-hazard Early Warning Application Information Technology (referred to as the “Laboratory”) was inaugurated in the supporting unit, the Chengdu High-tech Disaster Reduction Institute (referred to as the “Disaster Reduction Institute”).

The next step of the laboratory will mainly study the two major fields of earthquake early warning and forecast basic theory and technology system, multi-hazard early warning and applied information technology systeminvolving the early warning of various natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, mudslides, mountain torrents, and wildfires.

According to the plan,The laboratory will continue to improve multi-hazard early warning technology through technological innovation in the futureto help build a national and global disaster early warning network, including: continuously improving the level of disaster early warning technology, especially improving the reliability of disaster early warning technology, and supporting the construction of a disaster early warning network; building an underground cloud map network project, striving to break through the core technology of earthquake forecasting; speeding up the results Transformation, support the establishment of a national and global earthquake early warning network, promote the construction of a multi-disaster early warning network; promote the establishment and improvement of disaster warning related policies and regulations.

According to reports, the Institute of Disaster Mitigation, the supporting unit of the laboratory, was established after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008. It focuses on the research and achievement transformation of earthquake early warning, earthquake forecasting, and multi-hazard early warning. In the past 14 years, it has developed the world’s leading earthquake early warning results, and built the country’s first earthquake early warning. A multi-hazard early warning engineering technology research center,Up to now, 890 natural disasters have been warnedincluding 67 destructive earthquakes and 823 landslides, mudslides, flash floods, wildfires, etc.
