A Secaucus woman and her boyfriend have been charged in an assault with a baseball bat and theft of a bicyclist — an incident that apparently started with an innocent comment, authorities said. George Mendez, 54, of Millstone in Monmouth County, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy and theft in relation to an altercation on March 18 in the area of Irving Place and Paterson Plank Road in Secaucus.
