About 700 applicants will participate in the competition for the development of the Russian application store. At least three of them are leading IT companies in Russia.
The Ministry of Digital Development, at the moment, does not disclose the list of future developers who will take part in the creation of a domestic application store. It is known that more than 700 companies are participating in the negotiations, the list of which will be known a little later. However, according to Kommersant, there are three large IT companies among them.
They may be Sberbank. The company is currently developing its own SberStore, which is used in Salyut TVs and other gadgets under the SberBox brand.
The second candidate is Yandex. The company also has experience in developing app stores. It is possible that specialists will “raise” Yandex.Store, which was closed in 2020. The market worked for seven years and had about a hundred thousand applications for Android smartphones on the list.
The third may be the Vkontakte platform. Unlike Sberbank and Yandex, VK confirmed the development of the store. The company did not specify on what basis the market is being created, but assures that the release will take place in May.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin expressed concerns about the unavailability of applications from foreign Google Play and the App Store. The politician urged Russian developers to take part in the development of NashStore as soon as possible.
