The Chinese company BOE has begun preparations to supply Apple with new OLED panels for future iPads and MacBooks, according to the Korean industry publication The Elec.

In preparation, BOE will build a Gen 8.6 OLED panel production line at its B16 plant in Sichuan, China by the end of 2024. The company plans to compete with South Korean Samsung Display and LG Display, which will also supply OLED displays for future iPads and MacBooks.

Samsung and LG plan to provide Apple with Gen 6 OLED panels for the 2024 iPad, and then both companies will move to Gen 8.5 screens.

Apple is rumored to introduce its first tablets‌ with OLED displays in 2024.
