Japan posted a current account deficit of 370.8 billion yen ($3.2 billion) in December, government data showed Tuesday. Among key components, the country had a goods trade deficit of 318.7 billion yen and a services trade deficit of 321.3 billion yen, according to the Finance Ministry’s preliminary report. Primary income, which reflects returns on overseas investments, posted a surplus of 398.8 billion yen. For 2021, Japan logged a current account surplus of 15.4 trillion yen, the ministry said.
