Now the police, together with the Swedish Transport Administration, have decided that during Easter this year, it will be forbidden to overtake on the E4 north of Gävle. The decision has been made as the section is heavily congested during this period and it is thought that this will make the traffic flow better. The distance is 50 km long and a common road people take when they go to or from the mountains.

Most traffic is usually on Wednesday and Thursday in a northerly direction, and Easter Day and the second day of Easter in a southerly direction. It is also these days that it will be forbidden to drive again. The following applies:

The bypasses on the section Gävle – Tönnebro will be closed at the following times:

for northbound traffic, Wednesday 13 April, at 13–22
for northbound traffic, Maundy Thursday 14 April, at 13–22
for southbound traffic, Easter Sunday 17 April, at 13–22
for southbound traffic, second day Easter 18 April, at 13–22

The overtaking ban can end earlier in the evenings if traffic is reduced.
