Satechi Pro Hub Max may very well be a nice companion to the Macbook Pro 2021 with M1 plug. Unlike corded USB hubs, this one is connected without a cord to the computer’s USB ports through two USB-c plugs and a 3.5 millimeter plug. Then it sits folded against the side of the computer.

Opinion

Plenty of connectivity options, sleek design that does not require a cord and wide compatibility with Apple’s portable range make the Satechi Pro Hub Max a really good investment.

Positively

  • Integrated design
  • Plenty of gates
  • Backwards compatible

The hub has a usb-c pd port, 4k hdmi output, gigabit ethernet, usb-c data, usb-a, micro / sd card reader and a 3.5 millimeter input for headphones. All made of aluminum that matches your computer; it is available in silver or space gray.

Satechi’s hub supports charging up to 96 watts. The USB-c port gadgets screens up to 5k or transmissions with transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps. But then you have to have the right cables. It is also designed to work with Apple’s latest Macbook Pro 14 & 16. Then it is positioned so that you can still charge your computer via magsafe.

Plenty of connection options are available.

Well, do you think and look down on your Macbook Air with its two poor ports. Don’t worry, it fits all Apple M1 laptops and a bunch of older models (see below in the facts box). The only thing is that the Macbook Air is thinner than the Pro models, which makes the hub a little thicker and protrudes a few millimeters on the top of the computer. There is nothing that bothers you, unless you belong to an aesthetic extremist group, which would rather die than send an email with the font comic sans (although we can sympathize when it comes to comic sans).

Satechi Pro Hub Max
The hub protrudes a few millimeters on the side. Nothing directly to fuss about. However, it gets hot.

Gets hot

The only thing we have to object to is that the hub gets much warmer than the computer when it is used.

Why we do not know. Admittedly, the Macbook Air M1 is basically always cool, but it actually gets hot. Apart from that, it is a nicely integrated adapter / hub that is attached to the computer without disturbing cables, which also gives you most of what you need in the doorway.
