For users who are looking forward to Android 13, there are still many new features added to the new system, such as the introduction of the MEP function, which is quite practical.

For ordinary users, the MEP function added by Android 13 is to allow multiple profiles to be used on one eSIM card on the mobile phone, so there is no need to place multiple SIM cards.

The Multiple Enabled Profile (MEP) feature is based on a patent filed by Google in 2020. Rahmaan found multiple references to the patent on AOSP and the Android developer website, suggesting that the company may be planning to introduce the feature in Android 13 later this year.

For current smartphones, there are either one or more physical SIM slots, or an eSIM and a physical SIM slot. Now, with the introduction of Multiple Enabled Profiles (MEPs) in Android 13, users will not need to have two physical SIM card slots to use two different numbers.

They can easily register multiple numbers using MEP without the need for a physical SIM card. The implementation of MEP will save manufacturers some space and money. And manufacturers can use that extra space for a Micro-SD slot or a larger battery.
