According to an interview published on Monday, Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai stated she never accused anyone of sexual assault, rebutting an allegation that caused widespread worry about her safety. In a November social media post, the former world number one claimed that former Chinese vice-premier Zhang Gaoli coerced her into sex during their years-long relationship. Peng was not heard from for about three weeks after the post was quickly erased. She has since appeared at a few public events, denying that she ever made the complaint in December.
