On a cold, snowy Saturday morning, a month before the pandemic brought our world to a standstill, I sat in a crowded Catholic school gym in Chicago’s West Lawn neighborhood along with hundreds of parents and kids, Boy and Girl Scouts, teachers and community leaders.
