Two new features are available in the recently released first beta version of iOS 15.5 for the Home app. The update is minor but useful.
The signal strength indicator is now visible in the HomePod settings of the Home app WiFi. Thanks to it, you can understand where to place the speaker in the house for better network connectivity. The new feature is coming to HomePod even with firmware version 15.4.
Previously, only the SSID was displayed in the Wi-Fi network settings section of the HomePod. To see the signal level for each individual speaker in a stereo pair, you need to go to the section “Audio System”. If there are any connection problems, an exclamation mark will appear on the Wi-Fi signal indicator:
Another change to the Home app includes the ability to manage important alerts. After updating to iOS 15.5, when you open the app, a dialog box appears asking if you want to receive notifications with emergency alerts.
This type of notification (emergency or health) was first introduced by Apple in iOS 12 Emergency Alerts appear on the lock screen even if your iPhone is muted or Do Not Disturb is turned on.
