The three-year-old Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is officially no longer supported by Ubisoft. This is what the developer announced about the Ghost Recon Twitter account in a detailed text thanking the players for their participation in the project. However, the servers of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and its predecessor Ghost Recon Wildlands should remain active, so that nothing stands in the way of multiplayer games.
NFTs will also be discontinued – Ubisoft Quartz will remain
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is said to have received the last update from Ubisoft in March, and the last digit is also said to have been issued on March 17th. Some will recall that Ghost Recon Breakpoint served as the guinea pig for Ubisoft’s Quartz NFT platform, launched in December 2021. how games industry asked Ubisoft to find out that there should be no more new NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint in addition to updates. The information is supported by a text on the Ubisoft Quartz official website. There it says about Ghost Recon Breakpoint:
“Thank you to all Ghost Recon Breakpoint players
who have claimed their first Digits! You own a piece of the game and have left your mark on its history. With Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s last digit released on March 17, 2022, stay tuned for more updates with features for the platform (Quartz) and future drops to come with other games!”
“Digits” is Ubisoft’s term for NFTs, which covered in-game clothing and gear such as pants or helmets for the character, each with a unique serial number. So, based on the news, it’s clear that Ubisoft wants to stick with its Quartz NFT platform and carry the concept over to future games.
One of the most common selling points for NFTs is the ability to use items in other games. However, it is unknown if this will apply to Digits sold in Ghost Recon Breakpoint. For players who have acquired an NFT, this would probably not be good news.

It’s impossible to say for sure whether Ubisoft Quartz has been a great success for the company so far. In any case, there was a strong backlash from the community to the announcement and even its own employees seemed to have been skeptical at first and had little use for the concept, which is why Ubisoft promptly donated an NFT cap to its employees. In response to the outrage from fans and players, an official at Ubisoft also stated that they had not yet fully understood the advantage of Quartz and NFTs.
