Beijing time on April 7th news, Facebook parent company Meta canceled this year’s annual developer conference because it needed more time to prepare for its next big project: the Metaverse.

This is the second time the company has canceled the event in three years. Meta canceled its developer conference in 2020 due to concerns about the outbreak, and then held a virtual conference in 2021. Previously, the F8 conference provided an opportunity for developers and businesses to learn about Meta’s latest products and innovations. Last year’s conference included creating Facebook for business applications and other keynote talks.

But over the past year, the project for a connected virtual world — the Metaverse — has become a growing focus for Meta. Formerly known as Facebook, the company changed its name to Meta last October to underscore this transformation.
