East Newark Councilwoman Jessica Diaz has been fined $275 by the state Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) for failing to file the candidate “sworn statement” form in a timely manner. ELEC officials say Diaz filed the A-1 form, in which a candidate agrees that they understand the laws related to campaign contributions, for the 2019 election on Dec. 21, 2021, some 806 days late.
