Headphones have long gone beyond the boundaries of what was worn on the head with a headband jumper and could only play music over the wire. Gradually, new formats appeared, the sound became better, stereo appeared, headphones became smaller, smaller, smaller, even smaller … And a few years ago we received mass distribution of TWS, some of which can now be bought for less than 1000 rubles. It seemed that this was the limit, and we would not get anything more interesting, but we were wrong. Now we have spatial audio, and that’s what it is.

Waiting for something new? Here it is.

New Feature for Samsung Headphones

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, released last year, had a feature similar to Apple’s Spatial Audio technology, allowing sound to respond to head movements. This feature is called 360 Audio. It was logical to assume that the idea would develop and all new models would receive its support. Now the recently released Galaxy Buds2 got it. The feature became available to their users with the release of the update. The owners of the Galaxy Buds Live also got a similar opportunity. About it GSMArena reports.

Samsung Headphone Update

Firmware update R177XXU0AVC8 is 3 MB in size and the changelog mentions improvements in Bluetooth quality and stability, as well as the introduction of 360 Audio. With the first two, everything is clear and sometimes it seems that even if nothing has changed, such an entry will still appear. All due to the fact that this is an on-duty improvement. But with 360-degree audio everything is much more interesting.

Update

It is enough to update the headphones and the function will appear by itself.

How Audio 360 differs from Spatial Audio

Wherein don’t confuse the new feature with what we have already seen in AirPods. There, a similar function is called Spatial Audio. Samsung’s 360 Audio is designed to work with audio from most apps and simply changes the position of the audio channels based on your head movements. That is, if you turn your head, it will seem to you that the sound sources have changed their position. It’s something like you’re sitting at the computer, you have music playing from the speakers and someone called you from behind. You turned around, and the sound became louder in one ear (turned to the speakers), in the second (turned back) – quieter and slightly delayed.

This effect allows you to get a spatial picture. when listening to regular music or video. Apple initially went a little further. Her system doesn’t work with any sound. Its benefits can only be felt in a prepared track or audio track. But this is a full-fledged work with 360 sound. If I may say so, this is AR in the world of sound. This is especially epic when you watch a video on the big screen, where there is a dialogue of characters that diverges in the ears. And if at this moment you turn your head, the feeling of presence will be simply fantastic. I’ve tried this while watching movies on AppleTV+ with AirPods Max headphones. I really enjoyed this experience.

At the moment Galaxy Buds2 are the newest earbuds South Korean brand. They haven’t received many updates since the first generation, but they still have some features, like Audio 360. And the innovations have allowed the Buds2 to work with the Samsung Galaxy Buds app for Windows.

Headphones

It’s nice when you buy headphones, and after a while new features come out for the bottom.

How to update Samsung headphones

You can access the new feature on the Galaxy Buds2 by downloading the update on the headphones. It must have a number R177XXU0AVC8. If you haven’t received it yet, try pairing with your Galaxy Buds2, launch the Galaxy Wearable app, select “Headset settings” and tap on headphone software update.

For Galaxy Buds Live, the procedure for obtaining an update is similar, but the update number will be different – R180XXU0AVC2. If for some reason it’s not there yet, please wait and try again in a while. It should appear, although most likely it is already ready for you.
