Strong winds have forced Beijing Winter Olympics officials to call off the men’s Olympic downhill ski race on Sunday and push it back one day. Organizers initially delayed the start of the blue riband event on Xiaohaituo Mountain in Yanqing before having to call it off owing to the adverse conditions. “It would have been a lottery,” race director Markus Waldner from the ruling body FIS told Austrian broadcasters.
