We mentioned a few weeks ago the arrival of a new Ubisoft conference which should lift the veil on the publisher’s next releases. The French group has a few surprises, and one of them could well be Pathfinder.
A new concept based on walls and doors
- Hyper Scape, the FPS that has not found its target
Three sources have confirmed to journalist Tom Henderson that Ubisoft was currently developing a new game called Pathfinder. It could be a code name, but the fact remains that its design seems to be reminiscent of Hyper Scape for the moment.
Ubisoft announced Hyper Scape on July 2, 2020 before releasing it a month later on the various platforms. Unfortunately for him, the free FPS failed to find its audience and its rapid closure was announced by Ubisoft last January.
According to the reporter, Pathfinder appears to be a slightly different version of a Battle Royale, where a team of four players will drop across the map and have to find their way to the center to fight the game’s AI-driven main boss.
Players must fight their way through two walls (an outer wall and an inner wall) surrounded by a series of doors that can be opened. The problem? Different doors can be opened or locked in each game, making each game different in terms of the path to take.
In order to reach the middle of the map, players will need to fight AI enemies to level up and become stronger, with the AI becoming noticeably harder the closer you get to the middle of the map. Presumably the game will be PvPvE, as you’ll stumble across the map with other players, so the AI won’t be your only threat.
The concept seems particularly different from what we are used to seeing and it is specified that each hero has their own unique abilities, although these are not yet known at this time. Indeed, the development of the title would only be in its infancy and should not be released for a while. All else known is that the game is expected to feature a central hub, similar to Destiny’s tower, where players can use a shooting range, join an event area, run errands fun with vehicles or buy items.
