Beijing time on the morning of April 6th, according to reports, a US Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Tuesday showed that since the end of January, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been buying Twitter stock almost every day, and currently holds Some of the company’s shares cost a total of $2.64 billion.

The news, revealed in the 13D filing, confirms Musk’s intention to be more active in Twitter’s business. On Monday, the company said Musk owns 9.2% of the company. But the filing shows that shareholders are not trying to control or exert influence, but rather passively hold shares.

Tuesday’s filing said he owns 73,115,038 Twitter shares, or 9.1 percent of the company. The shares were valued at $3.73 billion as of Tuesday’s close.

On Tuesday, Twitter and CEO Parag Agrawal announced that the company would appoint Musk to its board.

Musk has been buying shares in his favored social media company since Jan. 31, continuing through April 1, according to the latest filing.

On February 7 this year, he bought more than 4.8 million shares worth $176 million, the largest amount he has ever purchased in a single purchase. Shares of Twitter closed at $32.42 on March 7, their lowest point this year. The stock closed at $37.51 in January.

Musk cannot own more than 14.9% of Twitter stock, either as an individual or as a board member, during or after 90 days on the board, according to Monday’s filing.

Minutes after Musk’s documents appeared online, Twitter said that over the next few months, the company would test “an editing feature” it had been developing since last year. On Monday, Musk posted a poll on Twitter asking users if they “want an edit button,” a long-standing request from users. Of the 4 million respondents, 74% voted yes.

On March 25, before Musk disclosed his Twitter stake, he asked his tens of millions of followers on the platform: “Freedom of speech is critical to a functioning democracy. Do you think Twitter strictly adheres to this principle?” He also said he might build his own social networking platform if fans deem it necessary.
