If Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s battle royale released during the summer of 2020, will close its doors at the end of this month of April, for lack of players, the studio would not have said its last word to try to impose in this environment. Indeed, Ubisoft would also like to succeed in offering an addictive experience, bringing together millions of players, as PUBG, Fortnite or Apex Legends can do.
It could happen with Pathfinder, which according to the latest rumors will be the new battle royale project. These come from Tom Henderson, who seems to have a good source at Ubisoft, since he, for example, announced the arrival of Rainbow Six on mobile before the official announcement. According to him, Pathfinder is a third-person shooter, holding graphical similarities to Hyper Scape. However, this project will offer a different take on the BR genre, incorporating PvE.
Here, it would be teams of four players, with characters with unique abilities, who would be parachuted into the battlefield, at the ends of the map, with the objective of reaching the center and defeating the boss, controlled by the AI. . To reach it, you will have to cross walls, where the only passages are doors, which change location with each game. In addition, AI enemies will make it even more difficult for you, in addition to other players, of course.
Still according to Tom Henderson, Pathfinder would include a “central hub”, like Destiny 2, in which players can interact, access a shop or participate in special events.
Ubisoft is working on a new third-person shooter IP and it actually looks good from what I’ve seen! @XputerE EXCLUSIVE:

Pathfinder would be only at the beginning of its development, and might not happen anytime soon. Ubisoft could nevertheless tell us a little more in the coming months. Remember that this is not the only project the company has in the pipeline, since another major multiplayer game is in development, with XDefiant, in addition to the free-to-play Ghost Recon Frontline and The Heartland Division.
