Yesterday, Epic Games released its game engine Unreal Engine 5, which will be used to develop many of the coming years’ big games.

It has been almost two years since UE5 was shown for the first time and since then we have seen some tastings from time to time, including in the impressive Matrix Awakens demo that was shown last year. Unreal Engine 5 contains improved tools for game developers and Epic has primarily focused on giving developers tools to create photorealistic experiences.

Epic Games also ships with the demo game Lyra in Unreal Engine 5. The game shows a bit what can be done with the game engine and can be used for game developers as a basis when developing their games. You can then take a picture from Lyra below and a short clip from the game can be found in the video spin a little further down in the article.

In the video spin below, you can also check out the entire Epic keynote presentation of UE5 as well as some other videos where you show what is possible to do with the game engine. It shows, among other things, how some things in the Matrix Awakens demo were created, how to make your first game in UE 5 and a guided tour through the game engine’s functions. If you are not a game developer yourself, then it may be enough to check out the summary found in the embedded tweet at the bottom of the article.
