Indie developer Mohammad Fahmi has died aged just 32.

Among other things, he became known as the creator of the visual novel Coffee Talk, most recently he worked on the upcoming Afterlove EP.

Fahmi’s career began at Gameloft before ending up as Editor-in-Chief for video games at Tech In Asia. He later joined Toge Productions and co-developed with the studio Coffee Talk.

Most recently, he worked with studio Pikselnesia on Afterlove EP, due out in 2022 for PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.

According to PlayStation Studios Malaysia boss Hasnul Hadi Samsudin, the industry has lost one of its “brightest stars” with Fahmi.

“We met at the first Level Up KL where we talked about how we can grow the region together,” he writes. “No words can express how amazing this kind and amazing soul was. I will truly miss you.”

“We at Toge Productions would like to say that it has been a true honor and blessing to have Fahmi on our team,” the studio said. “Having the opportunity to help develop Coffee Talk and bring the game to life for everyone to enjoy has been a true miracle. We already miss him and hope he continues to watch over us as we continue to carry on his legacy carry on as best as possible.”

“He was a really great friend, a good person and a wonderful developer”, says Gwen Foster, Head of Business Development at Robot Teddy. “I’m glad he was able to do the things he wanted to do, but I know he would have written more heartfelt stories.”
