The number of crimes recorded by the German police fell in 2021 for the fifth year in a row, to a total of some 5 million cases. The police data released on Tuesday showed a decrease of 4.9% compared to the previous year, a faster drop than in 2020, which was also overshadowed by the coronavirus pandemic.
