A few days after the deployment of the 14.0.0 update and the Groups feature, the Nintendo Switch is upgrading to firmware 14.1.0.

You know the song. Regularly, manufacturers update their consoles to improve the user experience. Sometimes it’s with big patches, sometimes it’s just updates insignificant “that improve the stability of the system”. And then there’s the in-between, like the Nintendo Switch 14.1.0 update.

A Nintendo Switch update

The Switch updates to 14.1.0. Nintendo has rolled out a new update of its hybrid console, which will not revolutionize the experience, but which has the merit of bringing new functionalities. We are going to make some disappointed from the outset: it will not mark the arrival of video streaming services. Many players are waiting for Netflix, Amazon Prime or even Disney+ to settle comfortably on the Switch, but it won’t be for now.

Unclaimed Platinum Points earned by completing Nintendo Switch Online missions on your Nintendo Switch console will generate notifications.

Nintendo Switch Online missions and rewards are not available in some countries and regions.

Turning this notification setting to OFF will hide the notification sent when there are unclaimed Platinum Points.

New Animal Crossing New Horizons avatars

The update will therefore mainly bring a notification system for platinum points. It will allow you to be alerted as soon as the objective is reached. Obviously it is possible to deactivate this new option at will. An addition that may seem anecdotal to many but that should appeal to the target profiles.

As a small bonus, players will be able to spend their Platinum Points to obtain new items. Rolling out alongside the Nintendo Switch 14.1.0 update, new user icons featuring characters from Animal Crossing New Horizons and Splatoon 2 are available. They will disappear from May 1, 2022.
