FIFA 22 Headliner Upgrades: An overview of all players and their values

Update March 31, 2022: There is a new upgrade for Luis Diaz from 88 to 89 OVR after being selected to the new Team of the Week 28. Previously, Jonathan Clauss had made TDW 27 and went from 86 to 87 OVR. The next chance for direct upgrades is on April 6th with the TDW 29. Rafael Leao is still the only candidate for the streak upgrade, but the leagues are currently on an international break, so it will not be possible until the second week of April at the earliest.

Below you will find all headliner players in FIFA 22 sorted according to their current overall rating and with their original starting values, all upgrades and the games played.

When do headliners get an upgrade?

FIFA 22 Headliners receive a permanent upgrade immediately after their release, which is always one Inform level higher than the last received performance-based Inform upgrade (TOTW or Player of the Day) or the base card of the respective player. For example, Team of the Week 9’s Kylian Mbappe inform card at 92 OVR is the Frenchman’s highest performance-based inform upgrade to date. Mbappe’s headliner card gets another inform upgrade (in this case +1 OVR) on top of the 92 OVR, which will then release it at 93 OVR in FIFA 22. In addition to this initial upgrade, other improvements may be added.

Can headliners get more upgrades?

Yes! Headliners in FIFA 22 are dynamic items that, like the OTW cards, can receive further upgrades after their release and increase in their overall rating (through “performance-based in-form items” and win streak). The headliner upgrades in FIFA 22 are always carried out on the next Wednesday.

  • Headliners get an upgrade every time the player gets into the TOTW or is recognized as a Player of the Day / MOTM. This keeps Headliner cards always one inform level better than their last performance-based cards. Headliners will NOT level up if the player gets an item from other events like POTM, TOTY or TOTS.
  • Another UNIQUE and permanent Inform Upgrade is awarded to each headliner if their club can achieve 4 consecutive wins in their domestic league over the course of the rest of the season. In this case, Headliner cards are always two inform levels better than their last performance-based card. Important: Only wins that are achieved in the national league after December 31, 2021 (7:00 p.m.) count. National cups, UEFA competitions and international matches are NOT counted.

The players from FIFA 22 Headliner Team 1

FIFA 22 incorrectly displayed a loading screen announcing Aaron Ramsdale as part of Team 1 instead of Marcos Acuna, when he was originally intended for Mini-Release 1. In fact, neither player was included in the packs as a headliner, only as a base item.

EA Sports discovered the bug around 10:00 p.m. and fixed it so that both players can now be included in packs. The day after, EA confirmed that players who opened packs (which may contain rare gold players) during the period of the bug will get their packs back. Anyone who has drawn the silver basic version of Ramsdale should get the headliner version.

FIFA 22 Headliner Explanation: How the promo works

At the FIFA 22 Headliner Event, EA Sports players will be awarded special cards that have stood out in an exceptional form in the season so far. A player can also qualify if they suddenly see potential under a new coach, in a new system of play or in a new position, as well as a strong comeback after an injury break. You can find out exactly how the promotion works below.

When are headliners coming in FIFA 22?

The FIFA 22 Headliners event starts on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. and ends on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Around three dozen players are expected with the event, who will be released in two teams, two mini-releases and more squad building challenges and objectives.

  • FIFA 22 Headliners Team 1 will be released on Friday 31st December 2021 at 19:00 CET
  • FIFA 22 Headliners Mini Release 1 will be released on Sunday 2nd January 2022 at 19:00 CET
  • FIFA 22 Headliners Team 2 will be released on Friday 7th January 2022 at 19:00 CET
  • FIFA 22 Headliners Mini Release 2 will be released on Sunday 9th January 2022 at 19:00 CET

What are headliner tickets and why are they special?

Headliners cards are among the strongest, best and most dynamic items in FIFA 22. You will receive a permanent “Topform Upgrade” upon release, which means that the values are automatically better than the previously highest inform cards of the respective players. In addition, they can get further upgrades, which means that they always stay one or even two inform levels ahead of the last inform card. Most of the time, headliner cards even outperform special cards from other events.

Headliner Cards are handpicked by EA Sports and are tradable on the Transfer Market as long as they come from packs and not SBCs. You can own multiple Headliner cards from a player in your club, but only use one in a match.

How to get Headliner Players in FIFA 22

As usual, you can also find the players from the FIFA 22 Headliners event in all FUT card packs that contain players. This applies equally to free packs as well as packs that you buy with FIFA 22 FUT Coins or FIFA points in the shop. The transfer market is another option, albeit a very expensive one, and last but not least you can earn one or two players via SBCs and objectives.
