In the “ErgoMechKeyboards” subreddit, users are showcasing their unusual yet fascinating keyboards that are interesting to look at. In this article we would like to present four of these oddities to you.

Keyboards come in many different shapes, sizes and colors and are mostly tailored to the individual needs of the owner. But there are not only keyboards in standard layouts with proper RGB lighting, but also particularly bizarre specimens, some of which can be found in the subreddit of “ErgoMechKeyboards” can be found. There the users present their wild custom keyboards, which are particularly eye-catching. We would like to present four of these keyboards to you in this article.

Fascinating, two-part keyboards

The user “Chewiedies” recently showed his “Cantor” keyboard with 42 keys without diodes, which is divided into two and stands on several stands. According to the user’s summary, the keyboard has a curved switchplate design. The top section is said to be attached to the base via 6mm magnets. The MCU cover is also held in place with magnets that are 3mm in size. In addition, the Cantor keyboard is filled with case foam.

The next user is called “Dreadrockstar” and shows his wireless, also two-part “Sofle Choc keyboard“, which is said to be equipped with an 850 mAh battery and buttons from MKUltra, among other things. User “Falbatech” comes with his Unibody keyboard therefore made of wood. According to Falbatech, the name unibody comes from the fact that the entire case is made of one piece of wood, although the keyboard is divided into two and the two areas are connected by a cable. Most recently, Reddit user “WhitelabelDnB” shows his “Afternoon Breeze build“, composed of a stainless steel body and carbon fiber panels. The keyboard, like all others presented, is separated from each other in two areas.


But bizarre keyboards can not only be found on Reddit, but also in the PCGH Extreme community. This comes up with various hardware threads, one of which deals exclusively with input devices (“Show me your input devices”) and has over 1,600 posts.
